Cannot Produce Article: Source Material at Analysis Stage Is Empty

Fourth, no temporal context. When did this event occur? Before or after a patch? Inside or outside the transfer window?

Fifth, no source perspective. Is the original piece news, analysis, or commentary? Where was it published, on what date, by whom? Without an origin, I cannot cross-check, verify, and reconstruct the story in my own voice — the third step of my rewriting process.

I do not deny that I could type 5,834 words. I can. I could weave a fantasy epic about skirmishes that never happened, about players who never existed, about dynasties never built. But for whom would I write it? And when the first reader searches the name I invented, what will they find at the other end of the search bar? They will find emptiness. And I will have lost them — not because I wrote poorly, but because I did not write truthfully.

This is not a refusal of the work. This is a request for the material. Give me anything you have: a headline, a team name, a patch number, a hot transfer rumor, a match you want me to dissect. Just one anchor point, and I will find the undercurrent myself. I will print the stat sheets, underline the numbers that tell stories, and turn each page until the story emerges.

Every match is a chapter, and I am only turning the page. But you must hand me the book first. A blank page is not the first chapter — it is a chapter not yet written. And a writer does not write the chapter; a writer merely reads it aloud.

I sit back at the desk, set the pen beside the notebook, and wait. Not for inspiration — inspiration is something I do not believe in. I wait for data. I wait for a name.
