Seminarian Sendoff

What is the Seminarian Sendoff?

Over 400 people come together to celebrate our seminarians for their discernment and the continuation of their vocation journey that is preparing them to be servants of God and His people. Your presence at the Sendoff reminds the seminarians that the diocesan faithful remembers them, appreciates them and prays for them. We are their companions.

The event consists of a short time for socializing, then a buffet dinner followed by remarks from Bishop R. Daniel Conlon and Fr. Burke Masters. The highlight of the afternoon occurs when each seminarian is introduced and speaks briefly about himself.

Each person attending the Sendoff receives an 80-page book that contains a biography of each seminarian, photos and other vocation related articles.

The Serra Club of DuPage County founded the Seminarian Sendoff in the fall of 1974 inspired by its mission to:

foster, promote and encourage vocations to the priesthood and religious life
